Wednesday 29th March 2017, Aberdeen, Scotland - Sepsis symptoms can be hard to spot and 1 in 5 patients admitted to Paediatric Intensive Care Units with severe sepsis die. At RACH we wanted to change this by recognising and treating sepsis earlier and more efficiently.
Drew has developed a clear and easy to use recognition Sepsis 6 tool for nurses to use during triage, which takes 20 seconds to complete. It aims to ensure fluids and antibiotics are given within an hour of being admitted to Emergency Department.
